I'm struggling with questions about how and where to present my thoughts in writing. Authenticity and inclusivity are core values to me, but in sharing about one's thoughts and life, can come into conflict with privacy, clarity, and (a biggie for me) the consistency that is usually expected within a given outlet or medium. This has put me in a major rut because I can't seem to determine what funnels to use or build to channel the completely different types of content and voices that I wish to ultimately share. (Beyond just my Substack.) Some of the dilemmas and concerns you share here resonate, and I'm glad I stumbled across your Substack when I consulted the Google-sphere for advice and perspective from outside my own dang head. Thank you, Nick, for sharing your human-ness.
Hey Bria, thank YOU for writing and telling me how you feel. The conflict you mentioned and how it has caused you to, effectively, choke on your words online - I relate to that deeply and continue to slowly navigate it.
I'm glad you stumbled upon this Substack and hope you'll continue to write and read about things that are coming from a place of authenticity. We'll eventually find our groove, I'm sure.
